Outsole
The outsole of the Adistar is designed from a hardened rubber material. The material allows the wearer of the shoe to achieve a high level of grip during wear and ensures that the sole of the shoe is one that allows the wearer to run on various surfaces (even the slippery ones) without worrying about constant slippage. The outsole of the shoe also features Adidas Torsion system which allows the shoe to function on a very high level because it connects both the forefoot and the heel of the shoe together; this results in quick movements and allows the wearer of the shoe to have security in their movements.
Midsole
The midsole of the Adidas Adistar Boost ESM is fashioned from Adidas Boost material. Boost is known for providing the wearer of the shoe with a comfortable and responsive feel during their use of the shoe. This feel is primarily the result of the materials’ shock absorbing quality. Another quality of the Boost material is that it redirects a decent amount of the energy taken in into the wearer’s stride; this simply adds a bit more bounce to the wearer’s step than normal and allows them to have a natural feeling ride during wear.
Upper
The upper of the shoe is one that allows the wearer of the shoe to have a snug fit while the shoe is worn. The shoes upper is designed primarily from a mesh material and incorporates adidas’ techfit material throughout. The Techfit allows the shoe to conform to the shape of the wearer’s foot allowing the shoe to provide the wearer with a snug fit while in use. The shoe also has various overlays strategically placed throughout that results in a structured feel for the upper of the shoe. This also allows the upper of the shoe to prevent the foot of the wearer from overpronating during use.
Weight
Adidas tried their best to make the Adistar a lightweight shoe, to no avail. The shoe has various materials that should come together and allow the shoe to provide the wearer with a natural, lightweight ride during use; the ride in the shoe is somewhat natural but the shoe ended up weighing a little bit more than necessary. The Adistar ended up weighing around 10.7 oz because of the added cushioning in the shoe and the various overlays on the shoe. Also, the shoe has a decent number of overlays placed throughout. As mentioned, the shoe still provides the wearer with a decent level of comfort and smooth transitions during their wear time in the shoe.
Breathability
The upper of the Adistar is designed from adidas Techfit material; this is primarily a mesh that allows for a decent level of breathing room to be achieved by the wearer during use. The material ensures that the wearer doesn’t deal with the various complications that usually come with running shoes such as the sweat accumulation. Also, the toe box of the shoe is somewhat ventilated which also prevents the wearer of the shoe from experiencing high levels of sweat and in turn discomfort from being experienced by the wearer of the shoe.
Comfort
The Techfit material and the cushioning placed throughout the Adistar’s design allows for a high level of comfort to be achieved by the wearer of the shoe. The techfit material in the upper of the shoe gives the upper a snug fit and ensures that the wearer of the shoe experiences very little movement during their time in the shoe. The best thing about the shoe is probably the boost material that runs through the midsole of the shoe. The boost in the midsole allows the wearer of the shoe to experience a cushioned ride during their time wearing the shoe; this is what this material is deigned for, to provide the wearer with a high level of comfort and cushion during their time wearing the shoe.
Style
Although the Adistar has a design that simply fits no other activity but running, the shoe is rather stylish. The upper of the shoe comes in various attractive colors that would allow the shoe to be worn in various places with little to no worry about standing out due to gaudiness. The shoe can be worn with a variety of athletic gear with very little effort due to the shoes sleek design. All in all, the shoe doesn’t look bad and should be considered if versatility is what is sought.
Durability
The materials used throughout the shoe’s design allows for a high-level of longevity to be achieved by wearers of the shoe. The Techfit upper of the shoe can deal with a decent level of strenuous activity before it begins to wear down; even then, the wearer should be able to get a decent amount o wear out of the shoe before It is unusable completely. The sole unit of the shoe is designed from a hardened rubber material that allows the shoe to be worn on various strenuous terrains. This results in a sole unit that lasts for extended periods of time and doesn’t require replacement very often. The same thing goes for the midsole and the level of bounce that can be achieved by it.
Protection
The shoe is designed in such a way as to provide the wearer with a certain level of protection during their time in the shoe. The sole unit of the shoe ha a decent level of cushioning that is provides a decent level of support to the wearer by responding to the curves of the wearer’s foot relatively easily. The upper of the shoe works in much the same way by providing a snug fit and allowing the wearer to have a decent level of security in their movements. There are also a decent level of protective overlays placed throughout the shoe’s design that are there to prevent damage from coming to the foot of the wearer.
Responsiveness
The materials used throughout the design of the shoe provide the wearer with a decent level of responsiveness during wear. The sole unit of the shoe is designed primarily from Adidas’ Boost foam; this material is designed to conform to the shape of the wearer’s foot and provide them with a comforting and added bounce during their time in the shoe. The Techfit of the upper of the shoe fits snugly to the wearer’s foot and allows them to make snappy movements when necessary.
Support
The Boost in the midsole of the shoe provides a high level of cushioning to the wearer of the shoe and prevents them from experiencing discomfort while running for extended periods of time. Adidas took great care in placing added cushioning in the heel of the shoe as to ensure that the wearer had a decent amount of support for that portion of their foot. The boost material also runs the length of the shoe and provides support for the outer curves of the foot as well.
Terrain
The Adistar is primarily designed for use on the more developed terrains. The sole of the shoe works best wen used on these terrains because of the hardened rubber placed throughout and the pattering of the material; the grip of the shoe would degrade extremely quickly if the shoe were used in areas that simply had a variety of “textures” placed throughout. The upper of the shoe, despite being able to handle a wide variety of things, would also break down relatively quickly if used on the more strenuous terrains. The sole unit of the shoe also features Adidas Formotion tech that allows the shoe to conform to the road conditions and provide the wearer with a decent level of grip.
Price
One thing to note is that the shoe an be on the more expensive side of the spectrum. The shoe features a wide variety of technologies that improve upon the wearer’s ability to perform in various conditions; the grip of the outsole and the snug fit of the upper of the shoe are 2 of these things. The Boost material alone and the added comfort that it provides, makes the Adistar’s price seem a bit reasonable; this isn’t even considering the shoe’s ability to provide functionality to the wearer of the shoe.
Traction
The sole of the shoe is designed from Adidas Formotion technology that allows the wearer of the shoe to achieve a high level of grip during their time in the shoe. The sole unit of the shoe is designed primarily from a hardened rubber material and allows and grips the ground with a high level of ferocity because of this; the sole unit of the shoe also has a tread design that allows the wearer of the shoe to have an improved grip during their time in the shoe.
Flexibility
Adidas designed the Adistar from materials that allow for a high range of motion to be achieved by the wearer during their time in the shoe. The sole unit of the shoe has Adidas Torsion system, a system that allows the different portions of the shoe to move in sync with one another; this also allows for decent transitions to be made in the shoe. The upper of the shoe is fashioned from mesh material and enhances the transitions that the user of the shoe experiences; the Techfit’s ability to conform to the shape of the user’s foot also works to this effect through the snug fit that it provides to the wearer.
Stability
The Techfit make of the upper of the shoe allows for a decent level of security to be provided to the wearer of the shoe. The snug fit that is provided to the wearer reduces the movement that one feels while their foot is inside of the shoe; this results in security in their movements and in turn a sense of stability. This is only enhanced by the tight lacing of the shoe and the overlays that are strategically placed throughout the shoe’s design. The sole unit of the shoe also conform to the shape of the wearer’s foot and works to ensure that a sense of security is provided to the wearer.
Drop
Okay, the drop on this shoe may be a bit subpar. The drop on this shoe is around 11mm making the feel of the shoe feel a little less natural than normal. This doesn’t take away from the transitions experienced by the shoe nor does it inhibit the wearer’s performance in any way. The added heel height primarily stems from the shoe’s additional cushioning that is placed in that area of the shoe.
