If you’re on your feet for a large amount of time every day, you’re likely to feel some kind of discomfort in your feet. Even if it’s not severe, you want to take care of the problem right away so that it doesn’t become a big issue. Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles are designed specifically to aid your tired, aching feet through the day.

These insoles include cushioning and support for the three key points in your feet; the heel, arch, and metatarsal area (ball of the foot). This means your feet will be protected and comfortable from your heel to the ball of your foot; keeping you comfortable the entire way through each stride of your day.

The arch support is even designed to be able to flex to your personal arch shape; giving you customized support. This doesn’t mean that these insoles are going to help all types of feet. Some conditions need specific arch support and therefore could be aggravated by these insoles. Be sure to consult your Dr. before purchasing if you have a foot condition.

These insoles are made with a ¾ length design which will give your key points the support and cushioning they need without taking up all of the space in your shoes. This will allow your toes to breathe and move around freely. It also helps the insole fit in a wide variety of shoes; including work shoes, casual shoes, and even dress shoes.

Brand

The founder of Dr. Scholl’s brand was born in 1882, in Indiana. His name was William Mathias Scholl. He came from a family line of cobblers and farmers. He became interested in biomechanics and shoes at an early age. He researched everything he could find on foot care and used his grandfather’s tools to make money via repairing shoes for people.

William went to the Loyola University of Chicago to study medicine. While he attended school, he earned his money by working in a nearby shoe store. It was a win-win for him because he got to learn even more about feet and shoes. It was during his employment at that shoe store that he decided he was interested specifically in podiatry.

Before he even graduated from college, William designed, invented, and patented his very first arch support product. He did this in 1904. He wanted to jump-start his company as soon as possible, so he decided to go into business with his brother, Frank. He founded his company and named it Dr. Scholl’s. Alongside his brother, they created a brand that very quickly found its way overseas.

The original Dr. Scholl may not be here today, but he would be proud of the people that took over the company. They are still just as dedicated to advancing their technologies to constantly come up with better ways to serve the public. You can find other Dr. Scholl’s products here.

Comfort

Whether you’re on your feet all day or for five minutes, on concrete floors or carpet, you’re liable to experience discomfort in some area of your foot by the end of the day. After all, they do have to carry our weight, and up to five times our weight on impact. That’s a big load for your comparatively small feet to carry.

The key areas of your feet that experience pain are your heel, arch, and ball of your feet. That’s why Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles focused on those three areas with their cushioning and support. The cushioning reduces the impact of each foot strike while the support keeps your arch from collapsing, the ball of your foot from sliding, and your heel from bone spurs. Not to mention, the cushioning is going to return some energy to your feet, leaving you feeling more energized. You can find other comfort centered products here.

Cushioning

If you experience pain in your feet, ankles, legs, hips, and/or back; the answer to your problem could be as simple as inserting an insole into your shoes. These insoles are built with cushioning focused in the heel and ball of the foot areas.

This cushioning absorbs shock from foot strikes and will help disperse your weight evenly across your foot. It will take pressure away from your joints and even return some energy back to your body. This energy return will help keep you comfortable, supported, and energized longer; helping you get through your day. You may want to consider shock-absorbing shoes to pair with your insoles.

Forefoot Support

When the ball of your foot doesn’t have enough support and cushioning, it leaves you more susceptible to symptoms like burning, itching, cracking, blistering, and pain on the ball of your foot. If you develop blisters, you can find treatments here.

How do these insoles help this situation? Easy. These insoles include both cushioning and support in the ball of the foot which will help ease the impact of foot strike, provide energy return, keep the ball of the foot protected, and lessen/prevent symptoms.

One condition that can be helped with extra attention to the forefoot is Metatarsalgia. This is a fancy word that means you have pain in the ball of your foot. This pain affects your bones and joints in the metatarsal area, which will eventually cause pain in your legs and back if left untreated. The cushioning of these insoles will work, with every step, to alleviate pain caused by this condition.

Another condition that can benefit from what Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles have to offer is Morton’s neuroma. This condition is inflammation of the ball of your foot. If your plantar fascia experiences constant compression for a long period of time, it is likely to develop inflammation at some point. Taking the burden off of that nerve will help diminish the inflammation. The extra cushioning will take some of the impacts away from your bones and joints.

Arch Support

Effective arch support will assist in distributing your weight and pressure from foot strike across your entire foot, instead of the impact being all on a certain area of your foot; whether it be the ball of your foot, your arch, or your heel. By distributing the pressure across the entire foot, Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles will help to relieve pain from certain conditions and even align your body more naturally. Arch support also helps to improve your balance and stability.

You can find numerous benefits to wearing arch supports. For certain conditions, you will need a specific kind of arch support. The arch support is called FlexiSpring, which is a technology that flexes with the unique shape of your arch in order to give you a customized fit. Ask your doctor if this kind of support will help your condition before you try.

The support will also protect your arches from collapsing during activity. If your arches collapse, your plantar nerve will be stretched to a painful tightness. This extra pressure on your plantar nerve can result in plantar fasciitis, which is a painful condition. It’s a good idea to make sure you have quality running shoes to go with your insoles. Make sure they have enough support to complement your arches.

Heel Support

Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles may not include a deep heel cup, but they do have extra cushioning in the heel, which is still valuable and effective in absorbing shock and cushioning the impact on your heel during foot strikes. Cushioning will even help to guide your heel naturally, though not as much as a heel cup can. You can purchase a heel cup here.

The biggest benefit that comes from extra heel support is that it helps with overpronation. This is the word that refers to your arches rolling inward when you’re walking. When your arches do this, it puts a lot more pressure on the rest of your body, causes pain to not only your feet but also your ankles, legs, hips, and/or back. The insoles can help a little, but if you overpronate, you’re going to want the extra stabilizing effect of the heel cup.

Anti-Fatigue

These insoles are designed mainly to keep your feet safe from discomfort throughout the day. Good news for you is that, in maintaining your feets’ comfort, you’ll also be able to reduce the amount of fatigue your feet and legs experience.

Foot fatigue happens when you’re on your feet for long periods of time and your muscles become tired. When your muscles are tired, that’s when you’ll feel discomfort and pain when walking. Why does it cause discomfort and pain? When your muscles get tired, they cramp up. Foot fatigue can also be caused by flat feet. If you have flat feet, you may find this helpful.

Foot fatigue symptoms include aching, swelling, and pain related to cramping. You can help to reduce the severity of these symptoms by massaging and stretching your feet at least two times each day. This will help to relax those tired muscles before you start your day, on your lunch break, and before bed. And don’t forget to wear quality shoes with your insoles.

Moisture Management

The downfall of these insoles is that they don’t include any special treatments or design choices that help to manage moisture or odor. By not having any means to control the moisture inside of your shoe, they can’t help to control the odor-causing bacteria that are attracted to your sweat.

These bacteria feed off of your sweat and produce an acid that they leave behind, which is what causes the odor. And it’s not just an unpleasant smell you have to worry about. These bacteria can cause Athlete’s foot and toenail fungus as well. I think we can all agree that we want to avoid these things. That’s why you should look into odor-fighting products to work with your insoles. It’s also a good idea to make sure you wear moisture-wicking/breathable socks and shoes.

Fit

A ¾ length design will allow your toes to move around more freely and be able to breathe. It will also allow the insole to fit more easily into your shoes. Another benefit of the ¾ length is that they can fit in a wide variety of shoes from work shoes to casual shoes to dress shoes.

They are available in a men’s size (fits sizes eight to twelve) and a women’s size (fits sizes six to ten). There is no trimming needed. There is adhesive on the heel, however, it seems to not work well enough for some consumers. You may want to look into alternative ways to adhere them to your shoe. If you need a full-length insole, you can check here.

Use

Since there is no trimming needed, all you need to do to install Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort into your shoes is simply put them in. There are labels to determine which one belongs in the left shoe and which one belongs in the right shoe. You will know if you’ve put them in the wrong shoes once you step into them.

You’ll want to replace them every six months, or at the first signs of wear. You may need to replace them every three months if you walk long distances or perform high-impact activities. You don’t need to tear out your shoes’ stock insoles. You can simply place these right on top. For insoles more geared toward high-impact activities, try these.

Bottom Line

There are many benefits that Dr. Scholl’s Tri-Comfort insoles can give you. Some of these benefits include cushioned comfort, relief from foot and leg muscle fatigue, and support for the ball of your foot, arch, and heel. They come at a great price and you can also rest assured with the money-back guarantee that if you are not satisfied, you can simply return them for a refund within the time specified by the retailer.

What they cannot provide you with are moisture management and odor control. Without these features, you will need to purchase additional products to protect yourself from odor-causing bacteria. They can cause Athlete’s foot and toenail fungus if they’re not dealt with. Be sure to consult your doctor before purchasing any product to help with a condition.
