Below you will read a summary of them:

Positive
  • I run every day in these and I vary my distances because these shoes can deal with all distances while giving lots of support and comfort. No problems with traction in different types of weather.
  • I like how protective these feel, no worries about injuries, the cushion is supportive for a neutral style shoe, traction works, the shoe does feel a bit hot and could do with better ventilation.
  • Sizing up is a good idea to get the best fit, the shoe is supportive, gives nice return on energy, need a few days to break into being comfortable.
  • I like these for width as I need that for my feet, good fit, lot’s of stability, these are comfortable for long, medium and short runs, very good shoe.
  • As I have gout I needed a shoe which has width, gives a lot of support and comfort and lets my feet remain cool, these do the trick.
  • Never a problem with these in four months, the shoe is durable, great support, has a nice neutral feel and gives solid reliable comfort with protection.
  • With these I have gradually been able to comfortably increase my distances, nice return on energy from these, a stable shoe, slightly stiff platform, breathability is ok but should be better, overall a fine and comfortable shoe.
  • Great designed in cushion for a neutral style, the support is very good, I can feel a reasonable level of bounce despite a stiffer sole, 4 stars, I did not give 5 because of the time needed to break in the shoe.
  • Use these mostly as an all day and jogging once a week, very comfy, nice width which I must have, I need lots of support due to day long wear and these are really very good, my favorite shoe.
  • Great cushioning and support. Really helped me increase my distance without foot pain. Nice cushion and great shoe style, I run regularly and these are perfect.
Negative
  • The back heel is to high on my heel, two days of trying these out and both heels blistered.
  • The front of these has a bump bump in the sole which feels strange and uncomfortable
  • Too much pressure in the heel area, I had blisters from these took a long time to break these in.
  • The platform under my feet is much too stiff and the heel area rubs and causes blisters.
  • The upper to the rear of these feels rough and rubs enough to cause blisters, they do break in eventually.

Outsole

The sole unit of the Gemini 3 comes with a standard design. It has hardened rubber covering the majority of the sole as well as flex grooves for added flexibility. The flex grooves in the sole unit of the shoe allow more of the foam in the shoe to show which, depending on the surface that it is used to run on could potentially cause a problem for these shoes. On top of this, the rubber sole has a textured pattern that varies as one transitions from the heel of the shoe to the forefoot; this allows for enhanced traction-gaining capabilities for the wearer of the shoe as well.

Midsole

The midsole of the Gemini 3 utilizes charged cushioning which enhances both the level of responsiveness delivered by the shoe and the overall comfort. The cushioning provided by the shoe also does its job to keep the shoe relatively lightweight. Also, it must be mentioned that the level of cushioning provided by the shoe suits those who need it for the long distance runs such as marathons and the like. The heel portion of the sole unit features a special Micro G cushioning which enables the material to support the individuals who land most often on that portion of the shoe.

Upper

The upper on the Gemini 3, like most shoes, is designed from a mesh material. The material and the lacing included gives the shoe a snug fit that is quite necessary for minimalist running shoes. The shoe features a heel cup that fits in with the snug design of the upper of the shoe as well. On the midfoot of the shoe, UA has decided to feature a Thread borne strapping technology which aids in the snug fit that is provided by the shoe.

Weight

The materials used in the design of the Gemini 3 allow it to retain its lightweight overall form. Materials such as the mesh in the upper and the foam/rubber combination used in the sole unit of the shoe are the main reasons for this lightweight design. The upper, although it is made of mesh which is a naturally thin material, has been given a thinner cut of it than usual. On top of this, the shoe’s use of the foam in the midsole allows it to retain its lightweight design as well. Overall the minimalistic design of the shoe is the main reason why it weighs in at an astonishing 8.25 ounces for a size 9.

Breathability

The mesh upper of the Gemini 3 allows the shoe to be both lightweight and to achieve maximum airflow while in use. The design of the shoe is one that features perforations in the toe box, which allows the shoe to retain the high level of air flow as well. The material that was used for the design of the shoe, coupled with the perforations aid the shoe in preventing discomfort in hot or muggy areas but is also thick enough to provide comfort for those running in the colder areas.

Comfort

The material used, and the cushioning provided by the Gemini 3 are designed in such a way as to provide the wearer of the shoe with a high level of comfort during use. The shoe feature UA’s charged cushioning which is known to give the wearer of the shoe a high amount of both comfort and flexibility during use. Besides the charged cushioning, the shoe features the Micro G cushioning in the heel portion of the sole unit of the shoe which allows the shoe to provide a nice level of support for that section of the wearer’s foot. The snug fit of the upper restricts movements of the wearer’s movement in the shoe which, while running is a huge benefit.

Style

The Gemini 3 has a sort of sleek design, which allows the shoe to blend in with the style of various shoes in today’s age. The design of the upper is one that lacks a multitude of coverings which, in a sense makes the shoe appear to be somewhat minimalist in nature. The minimalist design of the upper carries down on to the style of the sole unit as well, due to the single layers of both rubber and foam that were used in the design. Although the aesthetic of the shoe isn’t necessarily the best, the shoe overall can be paired with a variety of clothing outside of the running apparel that it’s usually worn with. The Gemini 3 is offered in a variety of colors which, also give the wearer a bit of variety in their choices.

Durability

The Gemini 3 has a few features which give the shoe a bit of longevity. The upper of the shoe features a design of mainly mesh material. The mesh in the upper of the shoe, while having a relatively thin cut, is rather tough. It can withstand the effects of extended use without being worn down or exposing parts of the wearer’s foot. The sole unit of the shoe has a decent amount of foam and rubber; two materials that are known for being rather durable. The rubber on the outsole, while appearing thin, protrudes a bit and can be used for extended periods of time as well. The foam, much like the rubber on the outsole does a decent job of keeping up with the wearer and maintains it’s responsive nature for even the longer runs.

Protection

The Gemini 3 doesn’t have much in the way of protective coverings, which allows the shoe to retain its lightweight design. The sole unit of the shoe does a decent job in providing the wearer with a nice level of protection; the sole has a decent level of cushioning which allows the shoe to be both comfortable as well as provide support for the arches of the wearers of the shoe. The hardened rubber in the outsole of the shoe also aids in this way by giving the wearer of the shoe a decent layer of stopping power to prevent their foot from taking on damage from incoming objects. The upper and its snug design also provides the wearer of the shoe with a decent amount of security while the shoe is in use.

Responsiveness

The sole of the Gemini 3 is designed from materials that allow the shoe to retain a high level of cushioning and in turn provides a natural-feeling ride. The shoe features a sole unit designed from both Charged cushioning and Micro G in the heel; two materials that have a shock absorbing nature. The layering of the materials in the sole unit of the shoe and their shock-absorbing and malleable nature provide the wearer of the shoe a bounce during their run. The upper of the shoe also has this effect; it’s snug fit reduces movement of the wearer’s foot inside of the shoe which enhances the speed with which the runner can move.

Support

The shoe is known for providing the were with a decent level of support in various areas of the foot. The upper of the foot is rather snug which allows the shoe to provide the wearer with both comfort and support for both the heel and the side of their feet. The Micro G in the heel of the shoe provides the wearer with a decent level of support for that area of the foot as well; this coupled with the level of cushioning provided by the Charged cushioning that runs the length of the sole unit allow the shoe to provide a decent level of support for the entire base of the wearer’s foot; this support is also able to last the wearer for extended use because of the cushioning’s nature.

Terrain

The Gemini 3 was designed for use on developed terrains such as indoors and on roads. The tread on the shoe while being on the durable side wouldn’t last for very long if used on the more rural tracks such as trails and the like. On top of this, the upper of the shoe would also experience a decent level of degradation due to the features of those more rural surfaces. That aside, the sole unit provides the wearer of the shoe with a nice level of return in terms of the level of traction achieved on these surfaces.

Price

The Gemini 3 is relatively inexpensive, especially when the materials that are included in the design are taken into consideration. The sole unit of the shoe provides a high level of traction and cushioning, which in turn improves the shoe’s overall support. This, when coupled with the design of the upper of the shoe and the cushioning provided in that area of the shoe gives the shoe a decent level of value. When compared to other shoe’s in the long-distance running shoe category and the price ad level of features in said hoes are taken into consideration, the price of the Gemini 3 becomes almost irrelevant.

Traction

The sole unit of the Gemini 3 is one that is designed to provide the wearer with a high level of grip during use. The shoe has been given a tread-like patterning on the outsole of the shoe which translates into improved traction during use on terrains such as roads. The heel of the shoe offers a relatively higher level of grip than other parts of the shoe primarily because of the different, more abrasive material used in that portion of the shoe. The shoe forefoot of the shoe features a blown rubber material, which still has a high level of traction but not as much as the heel of the shoe. Overall, the design of the sole of the shoe is one that gives wearer’s a sense of security in their movements while running.

Stability

The snug fit of the Gemini 3 allows the shoe to provide the wearer with both a sense of security and stability while worn. The sole unit of the shoe is relatively firm in certain areas, which prevents the shoe from experiencing rollover; the firmness of the sole of the shoe is made better by the overall width of the sole unit which also aids in giving the wearer of the shoe a decent level of footing. The upper of the shoe and the snug fit that it is known for gives the wearer a decent level of stability as well; the upper locks the wearer’s foot in place, allowing them to be sure of their movements and preventing missteps.

Drop

The drop on the Gemini 3 is relatively small when compared to other long-distance running shoes. The heel-to-toe ratio on the Gemini 3 is about 8mm which allows the shoe to provide the wearer with a natural feeling ride while being worn. The ride of the shoe is only enhanced by the shoe’s cushioning enhancements and the snug fit provided by the upper of the shoe.

Key features

• Sock liner in the upper
• High-abrasion rubber on the hele of the shoe

Verdict

Overall, the Gemini 3 has been given several qualities that are sought after in its design. The shoe features a stability providing upper and sole unit; this allows the shoe to work well as both a cross trainer and long-distance shoe. On top of this, the upper of the shoe functions relatively well in that it allows the shoe to have a high level of longevity as well as provide the wearer with a decent level of surety in their movements. Great job in the design of this shoe Under Armour.
